He did it!!

Yeah! We made it through the first day with great success. Lucky for me, my mom came over and spent the night last night. Also Mic went in late so he could be there with Julian when it was time to take the students in to the classroom. So 3 vs. 2 helped make it far from a rushed morning with the extra hands to help. Thank you mommy and Mic... We all woke up happy and had time to spare as we went through the day. Well I say that and I barely made it to daycare before they closed to pick up Tate, poor little guy. Today flew by. This may be TMI but after arriving at school at 7:30 I didn't realize I hadn't gone to the rest room again till 4:00 this afternoon.

So back to sweet Julian, he did really well. I was hoping to have seen him at some point during the day and be able to give him a little smile or something. All I got was to see the back of his head as he was leaving the cafeteria and my class was entering. Maybe tomorrow I'll catch him. He loved his teacher and enjoyed playing with his new friends. Here are some pictures from this morning.

Oh yes, I can't forget my favorite part. This evening when we were finishing up dinner, Julian went around to each of us and kissed the center of our hands. Then he had us put it to our cheek and told us that any time we missed him while he was at school we could put our hand to our cheek and he'd be with us. So sweet...they read The Kissing Hand today at school.

Daddy has been teaching Tate how to make silly faces.

Tate's teachers LOVE to make hats for their little kiddo's. I always love picking him up and seeing him come out with one on. Last week they were astronauts and today they were "Busy Bees". He came home singing a song that I couldn't understand so I'll have to be sure to ask the ladies tomorrow.

Now for the tricky part. What am I going to do with out mom here tomorrow since Mic leaves for work by 5:30? It's a whole new ball game!

Busy Teacher

I'm sure that I'm about to drop off the face of the earth and do anything but blog in the evening (though it is something I've come to really enjoy). Give me time and I'll come back to it. Since school starts tomorrow (it's already here!), I'm sure our home will be a very busy place and blogging will be far from the top of the list.

Julian has been great the last 2 weeks that we've been busy getting my room ready. He got a little break a few days last week while I went to district meetings & training. The little trooper put in many hours watching me attempt to get my classroom organized and ready for my new batch of kiddo's. We have company coming to spend the night and will have a full crew in tow for the big first day of school drop off. I'll be sure to have my camera so you won't have to just read about it. My room is ready, my lessons are done, what am I forgetting. Julian's supplies are bought, his outfit is picked out, and he's excited about his teacher. Tate is fully adjusted to his joyful greeting personality at school. Michael...everything's the same.

I'll let you know how it all goes on Monday!

Countdown to Kindergarten

I can't believe it's almost here!! In 12 short days my first baby boy will be a schooler. I'm not ready. Once they start school I've heard the time flies even faster.

Tate started back to daycare yesterday and it was a rough day for him. He's really enjoyed being home this summer and has become a bit of a Momma's Boy. Over the last couple weeks he's gotten to where he is always by my side following me everywhere. I have to admit I love the company and don't mind the Momma Boy factor one bit. I enjoy him wanting to be with me and know there will be a day when it could be the opposite. So where it gets hard having a "momma's boy" is when I have to drop him off at daycare and walk away. Yesterday I tried to ease him in with a trip to Shipley's to pick up breakfast. That gave him a distraction as J & I were walking out the door. Anyone who has been around Tate while eating knows that he doesn't take small bites. So I sat him at the table and he started stuffing donut holes in his mouth. Julian and I waved didn't give him much of a chance to know what was going on. When I picked him up I found out he cried for quite a while during the morning. All while his old buddies just looked at him waiting for him to stop so they could play and welcome him back. Also he skipped his nap, which is usually about 3 hours. He was really tired last night and crashed just after 6 till this morning.

Today he was much smarter about what was going on. When I was getting him dressed I asked if he wanted to go see his friends again...nope...was his reply. Julian and I took him in his classroom and he didn't take his eyes off us. After a couple of minutes he finally did and we tried to sneak out with out being noticed - we got caught. One of the hardest things a mom has to do is walk away from their own child crying. It breaks my heart! Hopefully it will get easier on him as he gets used to being back at school. The school he goes to is WONDERFUL and we are so blessed to have such a great "family" watching over him. We've been going there since Julian was 1 and I never want to send my kids anywhere else.

Back to School Shopping

Ready or not Kindergarten, here comes Julian... I went and picked up Julian's Fall wardrobe so he'd be all ready when he starts school in a few weeks. On Friday I headed over to mom's so she could watch the boys while I went shopping. I spent several hours in Allen taking advantage of a Friends & Family discount we had from Gap. It was great fun shopping by myself for many many hours. After dinner time had come and gone I called and left mom a message that I wasn't coming back. Its pretty seldom that I get to go shopping without the pressures of feeling I have to hurry before the boys get bored. Once I got back to mom's Tate was in bed and Julian was very eager to see what I had purchased. He really wanted to have a fashion show for mom to show off all his new duds. When we got home the next night he had to have another one for Daddy. He especially loved having new baseball clothes and shoes that make him run really fast.

Playing a little air guitar.
Struttin his stuff and givin' the look for daddy's fashion show.

At the car wash...

The boys went out to "help" Michael wash the car today. Mic had to refill the soapy bucket several times because they decided to wash themselves instead...
